FEED YOUR BRAIN

For most people leaving school means leaving behind all scholarly pursuits. So why not set aside some "quiet time" and pick up a book?

Choose a subject that you are interested in, but not one that is going to cause you undue stress and anxiety.

Do not shy away from "light" literature, especially if you are not feeling particularly "intellectual". There's no point in struggling to read Tolstoy, if Marian Keyes is more your cup of tea!

Read slowly and leisurely. Make the words count. Skimming over the pages will defeat the object of the exercise.

Make sure you are sitting (or lying) in a comfortable position.

Unplug the telephone/turn off your mobile. As you read and turn the pages, relax.

Don't attempt to finish a book in one session - no matter how interesting the subject-matter.

If you start to feel tired, take a nap.

When you awake, put the book to one side and leave it to pick up and read another day.

Tip: There is all day tomorrow that has yet to be touched
